Welcome!

notebook.jpg (300×300) Welcome to my Electronic Notebook of Resources for English Language Learners (ELL). I created this site as a pre-service teacher; and, I hope it is a resource that may be valuable to all educators. An educator does not have to be a teacher--an educator may be an administrator, a parent, or even a student. One of my primary goals is to assist students in becoming self sufficient, boldly independent--to become self-educators. After all, one of the greatest lessons I have learned is understanding the methods and styles of learning that suit me best, including how to seek out information and people who possess it. In my search for online resources, I found ten websites that are provide many learning opportunities, especially for students studying English language.
I have included a rating system for each resource on a 1-4 star scale, a brief description, a brief impression, a url link, as well as a screen shot for each website. Enjoy!

ESL Gold

ESL Gold ★★★
http://www.eslgold.com/

This compilation website draws the following categories and provides information and resources for students and teachers: speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, business, pronunciation, TOEFL/TOEIC, and idioms. The web site boasts hundreds of examples, explanations, and exercises as well as quizzes. It also facilitates a partner program, where conversational language may be practiced. For the student, all materials are free and organized by skill level. A list of additional resources is provided as well. For the teacher, ESL Gold contains lesson plans, handouts, and ideas for ESL instruction. In addition this site offers online resources that can be integrated into the classroom via homework, software, and CD-ROMS.

Several of the links I explored had been removed; however, the range of grammar lessons including verb tenses was impressive. I took a deeper look at some exercise examples and they were concise and great worksheet components to add enrichment to a lesson or extended examples. Under the vocabulary section, I was given the options of resources and levels. After choosing a level, the site presented over fifty pieces of text to support vocabulary learning for just that level. This is a great site to turn to for material.
